Background
Every human is born with a desire to learn and grow. This desire gets diverted, dimmed or buiried in some people as the realities of 21st Century life kick-in: schooling, conforming to society, earning a living, family responsibilities etc. Those of us who still have the thirst for learning will turn to further education, voracious reading and widening our adventures in the world. Because our modern lives are so mapped out for us, we have turned the ordinary, human, act of learning into an industry: the self-help industry, a place where oter people teach us how to learn, often about very specific topics, for example: realtionships, making money, feeling better about ourselves, overcoming trauma.
As I passed 50 and after 30 years of searching for meaning , focus, purpose and a point to my life, I came to the comclusion that, maybe, this was just ‘it’. There was no meaning for some people (like me). There was just a passing of the years, a ticking off of the milestones, a collection of accomplishments. Then death … and what may, or may not happen afterwards.
I can’t say I was bothered too much. I can’t say I was excited. At this point in my life I had become quite accepting. Stoic even.
And then both my beloved parents died, a few months apart, and hundreds of miles away from me. The mad year of 2022 seemed to set off a chain reaction that caused me to write The Last Self-Help Book You’ll Ever Need and then the blog The Wandering Lightbulb, which turned into the programme you are now following. I didn’t know what was happening at the time, but I can see now my ‘meaning’ in life was emerging. I was inspired to write:
The Last Self-Help Book You’ll Ever Need to explain that anyone can live an authentic, fulfilled, happy life
and The Wandering Lightbulb to show the exact process how.
Sharing this is my meaning in life. My aim is always to support you in finding yours. This course allows you to
Stop searching,
find meaning.
